Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium (TMG)

Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium is a world-class sporting complex in Sendagaya, Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan. Built in 1954 for the World Wrestling Championships, it was also used as the venue for gymnastics events at the 1964 Summer Olympics. The gymnasium was rebuilt to a futuristic design created by Pritzker Prize winner Fumihiko Maki and completed in 1991.

The gymnasium is a one-minute walk from Sendagaya Station on the Chūō-Sōbu Line and Kokuritsu Kyogijo Station on the Toei Oedo Line.

Boasting a floor area of 3’220 square meters and a capacity of 6’642 seats, the impressive venue hosted the prestigious Japan Cup 2011 in July, that was considered a test event for the 43rd FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Championships.
